Square 1 Ventures, the private equity platform of Square 1 Bank, proudly announces the additions of Will McLean, Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Northwestern University, and Andreas Ritter, past Private Equity Investment Manager for DUMAC (Duke University’s endowment), as independent members of the Square 1 Ventures Investment Committee.
Will McLean was appointed VP and CIO for Northwestern University in 2002 and is responsible for managing their $6.5 billion portfolio. Previously, he was the Senior Managing Director for Asset and Investment Management at the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and an Investment Officer for The Duke Endowment. McLean served on the Board of Trustees for Father Flanagan’s Trust and was a director of TIFF Advisory Services (overseer of investments for The Investment Fund for Foundations). He is currently a board member of TIFF Education Foundation and an investment committee member for the NCAA, Boeing, Davidson College, and the Mayo Clinic.
Andreas Ritter is currently the Managing Director of ARICO, LLC, an investment advisory firm serving family offices and institutions investing in private equity, venture capital, and real asset funds. He previously managed the $2 billion private equity portfolio of Duke University’s endowment. Ritter, among senior positions at several international financial firms, has served on the investment committees for three direct venture funds and was also Managing Director of Allianz Venture Partners.
